Living out our vocations in the community
Many pupils and staff take part in activities which support the wider community in our own time too. Take a look below at how we are living out our faith and vocations and following our call from God.
OPTION FOR THE POOR AND VULNERABLE: Maisie in Year 5 and Tilly in Year 2 had a good look in their room a couple of weeks back and decided to donate some of their toys ,clothes, books and teddies to charity as they wanted to share with children who do not have much. There were quite a few bags and the charity shop were very grateful!
They also selected a princess chair , jigsaws and educational toys to donate to the baby group at the st Wulstan’s Community Centre.
In addition to this, Tilly has been concerned this week about homeless people suffering from the cold and having no food or drinks. The family went together to a couple of shops where they knew that there was someone homeless and in need sitting outside. Maisie selected some groceries and gave them to them. They were very grateful and told her her smile had made a difference to them. She also approached and asked the security team of the supermarkets in question if the homeless person would have somewhere to sleep overnight as it is so cold. She told me her mum that felt very good helping and felt blessed with the life and family she has. How thoughtful, Maisie!
HAIR FOR WIGS: When she was just 6 years old, Rania, after seeing girls with cancer wearing wigs, decided to cut her hair and donated it to little girls in need. How brave, Rania! Well done!
BAKE SALES AND BIKE RIDES: Inspired by our learning about the work that Dougie Mac do, Elsie organised a sponsored bike ride and raised £300 during the Summer holidays. Daisy held a bake sale and sold her cakes, making £100. What an amazing thing to do in your own time!
MINI-VINNIES COFFEE MORNING: Our amazing Mini-Vinnies put on refreshments for charity after mass this morning . Thank you to all our parents who came and enjoyed a drink and cake in the glorious sunshine.
REMEMBRANCE: During the month of November some of our children have been supporting the Royal British Legion by selling poppies in ASDA. Many of our wonderful children also took part in the Wolstanton Remembrance Parade showing reverence and compassion. Well done to St Wulstan’s Cubs and Beavers.
CHRISTMAS LOVE: Four of our amazing pupils all took time out on Sunday along with their dance school, MB Dance Centre to perform for the residents of Bagnall Heights. Once they had finished their performance, instead of going home, they stayed to talk to the residents and spread the Christmas joy, cheer and love.
George entered a competition run annually by Thompsons Solicitors, to design a picture for the firm's Christmas card to celebrate their 100th year. George came runner up and his design will feature on the back of the cards sent to their clients and contacts. George was also able to nominate a school or charity to receive a donation of £100, which very generously he has given to the school! Thank you very much George!
Olivia has recently used her own pocket money to purchase donations to give to our local food bank. Well done Olivia!
